TERRORS OF WAR by Nnamdi Agbakoba
Nearly two million people were slaughtered in the 4 - year Nigerian/Biafra civil war. American educated Nnamdi Agbakoba writes a chilling account of bloodshed and almost miraculous survival in the Terrors of War. As much a story of war as of peace, of cowardice as or heroism, he reveals the spiritual lessons learned as well as a powerful philosophical view point found in the Bible and the Qoran. Woven together, TOW is a uniquely compelling book
Author Agbakoba takes his accont far beyound the events of the mid-sixties, when Nigeria's Head of State and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces was assasinated and the country was drowning in a sea of anarchy, starvation and brutality. There are no wiser words than those of the author; War is a total breakdown of diplomatic dialogue and discussions aimed at resolving diffrences. War breaks out when compromoise, tolerance forgiveness and diplomatic discussioins completly fail. In the Terrors of War- the futile and violent results of hatred are studied and important conclutions reached.

The first poetry book ever published with over 70 original war time/zone pictures of the Nigeria/Biafra civil war (courtesy of the Nigerian War museum) is a rare collection of words and pictures carefully crafted and composed to conjure the sequence and spectrum of desperation war evokes in those most closely affected, children. The author offers additional analysis and discussions around some of the poems to give the reader a full understanding of the thoughtful intelligfent verses.
Agbakoba's core message is clear through out - There is no victory in war and no excuse for its wake of militancy, violence, starvation, homlessness and death.
